The Walnut Street Theatre was established in August 2000. It all started in the upstairs portion of the local Over 50's Club building on Historic Walnut Street in Bolivar, Missouri. Thanks to our local patrons of the community, we have been able to renovate the turn-of-the-century building a little bit at a time. Since our first show, Harvey, we have added air conditioning units for the cruel summer weather and a furnace for the winter chills. We've also been blessed to receive many donations to purchase equipment including lights and trusses, a sound board, theatre seats and miscella-neous materials and props for our many professionally designed sets and costumes.
We began as a small group of local volunteers and have erupted into a community-fueled entertainment phenomenon. We are beginning our 8th season this year with excitement as we continue to grow by leaps and bounds. Our audiences grow with each new production as does our pool of actors, volunteers and creative genius. Thank you for your support and continued interest in our dream-come-true.
Our Mission Statement:
Our mission is to promote cultural education; aesthetic appreciation and self-expression through dramatic productions and educational workshops; pursuing excellence and challenging our audiences.
